r. Ormsby-Gore received the enclosed this morning from Mr. B. H. Dobson, Deputy Commissioner in the Punjab.
He does not think that there will be much use in granting an interview, but before he replies he would be glad to know what you think about his application for some post in the Colonial Service in the event of his retiring from the I.C.S.

Dear Mr.
Dobson,
25th October, 1923,
I hasten to reply to your letter of the 22nd instant, and to assure you that I well remember you as Assistant Director of the Commission National de
keke-
ravitaillement during the war,

I should be very pleased to see you here after the present pressure of work in connection with the Imperial Conferences has died down a little, but I fear I can be of little use as far as helping you to get a post in the Colonial service is concerned. The fact of the matter is that practically all the senior posts in the Colonies for which your general administrative experience might make you eligible are filled by promotion within the service, The Assistant Frivate Secretary for Appointments here, whom I have consulted, tells me also that at the moment he does not know of any temporary employment for which you might be suitable,
